KIND LDNSE CIC is here

Why a Community Interest Company (CIC)?

Founder: Tilly

Over the course of a couple of years, it has become increasingly clear that in order to continue supporting the Grove population on a daily basis, formalising a CIC as a not-for-profit business entity seemed the best way forward.

In addition to provisioning and maintaining physical obstacles, general site management, overseeing the welfare and safety of the Grove population with minimum interference to their day-to-day activity are the KIND’s core focus. The KIND should intervene only to prevent the Grove population from “driving off the cliff”.

The Grove community is, by nature, a self-enrolled holding pen for the local delinquents, thus a certain level of destructiveness and high energy is expected. This organised chaos is the essence of the Grove, and the Grove won’t be the Grove without it.

What The Grove KIND can do?

  • Accept donation from individual supporters
  • Accept grants from external organisations
  • Give transparency to the community “purse” by periodical publication of funding report
  • [Low priority, but technically possible] Generate profit, strictly for community use, by trading goods or service.

What The Grove KIND cannot/won’t do?

  • ❌ Generate profit for private gain: The KIND is strictly not-for-profit.
  • ❌ Borrow money
  • ❌ Invest money for return
  • ❌ Engage with ethically questionable individuals, brands, organisations or activities. (Subject to case-by-case & open community consultation if any opportunity comes with potential risks.)
